Aerating

Lawn aerating helps your lawn use less water and stay green.

We use plug aerators that remove small plugs of soil from your lawn. Before we begin, we flag all sprinkler heads to avoid damage.
What does this do? By removing soil, fresh roots can move freely through the loosened soil and grow deeper. The deeper roots reach further into the ground where the water recedes, allowing the lawn to stay green with less watering.
What do we do with the plugs that are left behind? The plugs should be left on the lawn until they break down. The loosened soil will return to the holes and the roots pulled up will be picked up when the lawn is cut.
When is the best time to aerate? Aeration is great for your lawn in the Spring and Fall. In Spring, aerating helps break up thick root patches, fostering new root growth and allowing roots to grow deeper. In Fall, aerating helps the soil to loosen up and allow nitrogen from rain and snow to settle into the soil.
We will flag sprinkler heads before starting. Access to sprinklers will be necessary to do so. We can use metal detectors to locate sprinklers for an additional fee.
